Confessions
Have you ever wondered what hurts the most? Saying something and wishing you hadn't, or saying nothing
and wishing you had? Sometimes the hardest things to say are the most important. If everyone was to let fear control them,
they might miss the pieces of their life that matter the most. Don't be afraid to let your feelings escape; without communication
we are lost. Your heart decides what matters, what doesn't, and you can't tell your heart what to feel. Too many of us stay
walled up because we are too afraid. We think and fear that the other person does not care as much, or not at all.
Have you ever denied your feelings for someone because of your fear of rejection was too hard to
handle? We tell lies when we are afraid--- afraid of what we don't know or what others will think. We let opinions control
our actions, and never get the chance to show our true colors. Truth is, people create opinions of others to make themselves
seem better, but these people are followers, and we shouldn't let this affect our world. No one is perfect, and everyone makes
mistakes.
Life is all about taking risks and it requires you to jump. Even if what you have to say isn't what
others want to hear, don't hide your feelings. Don't be the person that has to look back and wonder what they could have done,
or could have had. Make choices for yourself, not for those around you. In this day in age, it is essential to speak your
mind. Even though we are young, we have just as much to say as those that are grown. Our relationships may not be mature,
but those are the ties that make us stronger, and more eager to face what lies ahead.
So, don't be a follower, be the leader. Make mistakes. We can't fear our thoughts, for they might
be the ideas that change the world. Do not be afraid to be yourself. Confess what makes you who you are, because you have
nothing to lose. These are the years that define our future. Speak out and make a difference!

Share the Joy
Christmas is a time for gifts, food, and family, but what does it all boil down to? What is Christmas really
about? We take for granted the importance of this treasured holiday. When was the last time you sat down and thought about
the true meaning of Christmas? Well, I am telling you now that instead of your gifts, you should be thinking about the one
that has always been there for you, the one that gave his life for you.
"No matter what religion or race you are, we are all under one God," states Mrs. V. Jenkins.
She is right; we are under one God. On that day of December 25, he was brought into this world and shall
remain in our lives forever. He has been here. I am talking about Jesus Christ.
We celebrate in commemoration of Christ, as in CHRISTmas. The whole concept of this holiday is to give thanks
and realize what we take for granted. If he wasn't important, why do we celebrate it as a holiday?
This school and the people in it have a responsibility to speak out and say what they feel. Don't let anyone
stand in your way of telling others of your love for Jesus.
For this Christmas, there are so many thanks and prayers that need to be said. So do your part and make
sure not just the class of 2005 gets the message, but spread the word to all the students of H. Grady Spruce High School.
Show them what Christmas
is about, Juniors!

Beginning the New Year with Friendships
Last year is old news, but in 2004 we have a fresh
start. Making new friends can be a great decision for the new year. You might want to build a stronger relationship with the
close friends you already have. With just a year and a half of school left before we graduate, we are shooting to make the
best of it.
In the words of Mrs. Camble-Bailey, "The only way
to have a friend is to be one."
We want to start this year off with hapiness, love,
and prospering friendships. You need people in your life that are going to be there no matter what you are going through;
you also need to return the favor. The only way to have friend is to make them. I receive an email from seniors Ana Lopez
and Denise Salmeron, saying that, "You might be best friends one year, pretty good friends the next year, don't talk
much the next, and don't talk at all the year after that." Do not let that happen! Let all your friends that you are
there for them and always will be.
Friendships have helped us throughout these tiring
years of high school, middle school, and all the way back to elementary school. When you are a child it is easy to make
and lose friends because your young mind doesn't understand the concept of love and companionship, but when you
are older and more mature you begin to want those types of things in your life and losing them hurts the most.
Broken hearts will come often, but you will
always have your friends to help fix them.
Remember, as long as you have friends you will
have happiness. So, next time your are walking down the hall, or see a familiar face say "hi". You never know who your
next friend might be.
